Extender is a specially formulated preservative designed to help prolong the usable life of natural ballistic gel.
When used correctly and stored under suitable conditions, Extender can help natural ballistic gel casts remain usable for up to six weeks. It works by helping to reduce mould growth and surface foam, supporting a cleaner, clearer, and longer-lasting gel medium for testing, demonstration, and forensic applications.
Extender is particularly useful when gel casts need to be prepared in advance, stored for longer periods, or used across multiple testing sessions.

Usage Guidance
Natural ballistic gel is normally prepared using a 90% water to 10% gel powder ratio by weight.
When using Extender, reduce the amount of water by 1% of the total gel weight and replace that amount with Extender. The amount of gel powder remains the same.
Once the gel and water mixture has been heated and is ready, slowly add the measured Extender while stirring gently until fully mixed. The gel can then be cast and allowed to set following the standard natural ballistic gel preparation process.
Example:
When using a 6.5 L Rifle Block Kit, add the 650 g gel pack to the mould as normal. Instead of adding 5,850 ml of water, reduce the water by 58.5 ml and replace it with 58.5 ml of Extender.
Once the gel and water mixture has been heated and fully mixed, add the Extender slowly while stirring gently.
Storage Guidance:
Once cast, natural ballistic gel should be refrigerated and stored in an airtight container or wrapped in plastic film. This helps prevent the gel from drying out and supports the extended usable life provided by Extender.

Extender contains an alcohol carrier. Use only in a well-ventilated area and keep away from heat, sparks, open flames, and other sources of ignition.
